Valencia and Real Madrid face each other in La Liga
It’s always entertaining when Valencia and Real Madrid face each other in La Liga. On Sunday these two teams will go toe to toe again at the Estadio Mestalla. Let’s discuss it in our La Liga predictions for the weekend.
During the week Valencia had a huge reason to celebrate because the club successfully qualified for the 1/8-finals of the Champions League. Los Che met Ajax in a decisive game in their group and they were underdogs at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam. Well, Albert Celades’ boys surprised a lot of people, because Valencia won this game with 1-0 and progressed in the competition. Rodrigo scored the winner for the Spanish side.
Things could get really better for Valencia if they win on Sunday as well. Right now they are 8th in La Liga’s standings, but they are also just one point behind the 4th Real Sociedad. You can see why Valencia will aim to beat Real Madrid on Sunday and climb up in the table.
Real Madrid also had a game in the Champions League during the week. Zinedine Zidane’s team visited Club Brugge and made a solid performance for a 3-1 win. The Brazilian wonderkids Rodrygo and Vinicius scored for Madrid, while Luka Modric added one more goal for the win. Real Madrid finished second in their group, losing the first place to PSG.
If the leader in the league Barcleona make a wrong step against Real Sociedad in San Sebastian, this could allow Real Madrid to top the league. At this moment Los Blancos are on par with Barca, waiting for them to make a mistake.
The French left back Ferland Mendy is missing the game for Real Madrid because of suspension, while Eden Hazard is still recovering from his last injury.
In our La Liga predictions we expect a very competitive derby between Valencia and Real Madrid at the Mestalla. It’s hard to pick a favourite here, so let’s just watch and see. We have a feeling that both teams are going to score here.
