Soccer predictions for Montpellier – Lyon

Montpellier hosts Olympique Lyonnais at the Stade de la Mosson in a postponed match from the first round of the Ligue 1. Let’s preview it in our soccer predictions for this week. Are you ready?

Montpellier are in the middle of the table after two games played in the Ligue 1. They won once and lost once, being 10th with 3 points in their record.

Montpellier started their season with a defeat against Rennes, but in their next match they enjoyed a first win for the 2020/21 season. Michel Der Zakarian’s team hosted Nice and celebrated a convincing 3-1 win. Laborde opened the score for the hosts, while Daniel Congre finished the job with two strikes in the second half. Most of the pundits picked Nice as a favourite in this game, but Montpellier proved they can be pretty good as well.

Olympique Lyonnais are 5th in the Ligue 1 standings with 4 points and a record of one win and one draw. Few days ago Les Gones paid a visit to Bordeaux, but the match ended without any goals being scored – 0-0.

One of Lyonnais’ stars Memphis Depay got criticized after the game in Bordeaux. The Dutch striker didn’t do much on the pitch for 73 minutes. Some of the journalists suggested he’s not focused right now because of the rumours of a possible transfer to Barcelona. Depay was replaced by Tino Kadewere in the second half, so we should see what Rudi Garcia will decide about him for the game on Tuesday.

These are our soccer predictions for this week for the Ligue 1 clash between Montpellier and Olympique Lyonnais. The visitors could actually top the table if they win this match, while for Montpellier this is a chance to do a big jump in the standings. It should be a good game.
