Real Madrid will host Manchester City in a first leg from the 1/8-finals of the Champions League

The whole world will be watching at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday when Real Madrid will host Manchester City in a first leg from the 1/8-finals of the Champions League. We all expect a pretty amazing game in the Spanish capital. Let’s preview it in our Champions League predictions for the day.

For Real Madrid this match comes in a little bit delicate moment. The reason for this is the fact that Los Blancos made negative results in their last two matches in La Liga, losing the first place to Barcelona. After their dissapointing 2-2 draw with Celta at home, on Saturday Madrid faced Levante and got conceded a 0-1 loss.

It’s now up to the manager Zinedine Zidane to speak with his players and bring them their confidence back. Zidane won the Champions League in three consecutive years as a manager, so there’s a certain aura around him. He had never lost a game in the Champions League knockout phase so far and that’s impressive.

Sadly for Madrid and their fans, Eden Hazard got injured again. The Belgian star still can’t impress since his arrival from Chelsea because of injuries. It’s really, really dissapointing. He’s a marvelous player.

Having already lost the title race with Liverpool in the Premier League, Manchester City’s main goal this season remains the Champions League. The Cityzens are trying to win the competition for a first time. Last season they made a very good game against Tottenham Hotspur in the 1/4-finals, but Guardiola’s team got eliminated after a late goal by Spurs.

At this moment Pep Guardiola is lucky enough to have a pretty full squad for this fixture. City’s team was boosted by the return of the centre back Aymeric Laporte, who is a player of huge significance for the club.

In our Champions League predictions we expect an amazing game between Real Madrid and Manchester City. Can Zidane’s aura in this competition help Los Blancos again? Or it is the moment for the Cityzens to shine?
