Istanbul Basaksehir welcomes Copenhagen in a first game from Europa League
Istanbul Basaksehir welcomes Copenhagen in a first game from Europa League’s 1/8-finals between these two teams. In our Europa League predictions for today we will preview this fixture for you.
The Turkish side surprised a lot of people after eliminating Portuguese giants Sporting CP from Europa League in the previous round. Sporting won the first game in Lisboa with 3-1, which led us to think that they have almost secured their place in the 1/8-finals. But it wasn’t the case, because Istanbul Basaksehir also won the second game with 3-1. In the extra time Bosnian international Edin Visca scored his second goal in the game, which sent the hosts to the next round.
Managed by former Turkish star Okan Buruk, Istanbul Basaksehir are a force to be reckoned with. There are some excellent players in the squad just like Mehmet Topal, Martin Skrtel, Edin Visca, Demba Ba and Enzo Crivelli. Even Real Madrid’s former star Robinho is currently part of the team. Nobody should underrestimate Istanbul Basaksehir – it would be a great mistake.
Copenhagen are also a solid team, though – one of the best in the whole Scandinavia. In the previous round the Danish champion also made a great performance against another great European club – Celtic. The first game in Copenhagen ended with a 1-1 draw, but in the second leg the Danish team celebrated a 3-1 win at the Celtic Park. Stale Solbakken’s team played the perfect game in Glasgow, winning it with goals from Michael Santos, Pep Mas and Dame N’Doye.
We believe that this is one hugely unpredictable tie between Istanbul Basaksehir and Copenhagen. In our Europa League predictions we think that both teams have the potential to hurt each other. We won’t be surprised if we see two home wins in these games we are about to witness.
