Champions League predictions for PSG – Dortmund
PSG lost the first leg against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, but let’s be clear here – they have not lost the war just yet. After a 1-2 defeat at the Signal Iduna Park two weeks ago, PSG hosts Dortmund with just one goal in mind – to eliminate the Germans and progress in the competition. Let’s get a good preview of this fixture in our Champions League predictions.
It’s safe to say that the first game in Dortmund didn’t go according to the plan for PSG and the manager Thomas Tuchel. Neymar managed to score a very important away goal after an assist from Kylian Mbappe, but Erling Haland’s brace made the stands go euphoric. There’s no doubt that Haland is going to be one of Borussia Dortmund’s biggest weapons in Paris on Wednesday.
PSG are easily dominated Ligue 1, so winning the Champions League remain the club’s main goal at the moment. The Parisians didn’t have a game in the domestic league during the weekend, so they will have the opportunity to host Der Borussen with fresh legs. The deadly trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi could be the “X Factor” PSG will need to eliminate the German side.
Borussia Dortmund are probably in the best shape they have been this season. Including the result against PSG in the first leg, Lucien Favre’s team is enjoying a run of five consecutive wins in all competition. On Saturday Der Borussen had a tough visit to Borussia M’gladbach in the Bundesliga, but they achieved a win after goals from Thorgan Hazard and Achraf Hakimi. The English international Jadon Sancho entered the pitch as a substitute, which leads us to think that he was saved for the game on Wednesday.
That’s our Champions League predictions for the second 1/8-finals leg between PSG and Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. The German team have a goal advantage, but nothing is over just yet.
